The origins of the band date back to 1985 where a group of musicians gathered for a party at the Cinder Block, a frequent party location. A decorative beach towel showing a raccoon on a surfboard provided the inspiration for the Surfn' Raccoons name. An eclectic mix of influences from Chuck Berry, The Doors, Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, The Ramones, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more.
